North Sails: News Details

Dragon Edinburgh Cup

Joost Houweling

41 boats came to race in the 2013 Edinburgh cup hosted by the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy.

The WPSA will also play host for the 2013 Dragon World Championships so competition was fierce as many teams from around the world used the event to test their skills on olympic waters.

All six scheduled races were sailed, the first four races in winds between 6 and 12 knots and the final two days with great conditions with winds between 8 and 16 knots.

After the exciting sixth and final race (with six boats all still in with a shout of victory), it was Lawrie Smith and his crew Ossie Stewart and Tim Tavinor who won the much coveted trophy.

In the Corinthian Division victory went to Julia Bailey sailing with Graham Bailey, Keith Tippell and Will Heritage.

The top 5 boats all used North Sails, see here for results.

We still have sails in stock but demand is high at the moment so please contact our sales team to ensure delivery in time for the Dournenez Goldcup and the Weymouth World Championship.
