International Moth Europeans 2013

Judith Wilkinson

Congratulations Chris Rashley on winning his third European title.

32 International Moths travelled to Sicily for the 2013 European Championship.

The pre regatta practising and the regatta itself saw varying wind conditions which often meant the boats could either not sail because of too much or too little wind.

The first two days racing were cancelled entirely due to the Sirocco wind prevailing bringing in winds of upto 40 knots. On the third day racing got underway with Chris Rashley taking first in both races, he followed this up with a 2nd the next day after the first race was abandoned. The Friday saw all racing abandoned for the day as the wind arrived too late in the day. So by the final day only 3 races had been sailed. Fortunately some wind arrived and Chris took 4th in the first race, which went as his discard in the end, he finished off his dominance of the series scoreline with another first in the final race.

Congratulations to Chris on winning his third European title in 3 successive years.

Chris Rashley raced using his new North GM-1 sail. To find out more details about this winning sail please see our class page or contact our Class Experts.
