A NEW CHAPTER AT NORTH SAILS SEATTLE

After decades of dedicated service to the Pacific Northwest sailing community, long-time North Sails expert Jack Christiansen is passing the torch. North Sails Seattle will transition to the capable hands of Tim Scanlon and Alyosha Strum-Palerm, marking an exciting new chapter for the loft.
Jack isn’t going far—he’ll remain closely involved during the transition, continuing to support customers and share his expertise with the next generation. While his fishing trips may start getting longer, Jack’s steady presence ensures a seamless handover and the same high standard of service North Sails is known for.
“I’m excited about the future of North Sails in the Pacific Northwest,” says Jack. “I’ll be around for a transition period, but it’s clear that Alyosha, Tim, and continuing Service Manager Kerry Sherwin have hit the ground running. The loft is in great hands.”

MEET THE TEAM
Alyosha Strum-Palerm is stepping into the role of Sales Manager and becomes the new face of North Sails Seattle. A professional sailor and marine consultant, Alyosha brings a diverse background in offshore racing, technical project management, and performance coaching. His racing record includes wins and podiums at top-tier events such as the Race to Alaska, Swiftsure, Cowes-Dinard, and the Tasar Nationals across North America, Europe, and Australia. With a blend of technical expertise and practical know-how, he’s been a go-to resource for rigging, sails, and race preparation. Alyosha also has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest sailing scene and is dedicated to supporting local racers, cruisers, and offshore sailors alike.
Tim Scanlon, a Lightning North American Champion and experienced offshore navigator with over 3,000 solo ocean miles, brings a unique skill set to the team. Beyond his racing credentials, Tim’s professional background includes strategy, product development, and business leadership across multiple industries. His analytical mindset and entrepreneurial drive will fuel the growth of the Seattle loft while providing sailors with both technical and tactical expertise. “We are very excited to be representing North Sails in the Puget Sound and greater Northwest. We look forward to continuing Jack’s legacy of delivering the highest quality sails and service to the PNW sailing community.”
Kerry Sherwin will continue in his long-standing role as Loft Service Manager. A veteran sailmaker with more than 20 years of experience, Kerry joining North Sails Seattle in 2007. He is a trusted point of contact for customers and leads the service team with exceptional care and craftsmanship. An active racer himself, Kerry has competed in the Melges 24 Worlds, 6 Meter Worlds, and many other local and international regattas. He’s known for his leadership ability, ans shining under pressure whether it's fine-tuning sails, mentoring junior staff or repairing machines on-site at major events.
