CUSTOM PERFORMANCE SAILS FOR X-YACHTS

X-Yachts Sails by North Sails

X-Yachts builds three distinct ranges in Denmark. The Xc line is set up for comfortable cruising, the Xp models lean toward performance, and the X-Range sits between the two, alongside earlier classics such as the X-79, X-99 and X-119 that are still actively raced. Two X-Yachts of similar size can therefore want very different sails.

North Sails builds X-Yachts sails to suit the boat and the sailing. Cruising owners get durable mainsails and furling genoas that two people can handle, while performance owners get shapes that hold up under racing loads. We build mainsails, furling genoas, self-tacking jibs, working jibs, code zeros and asymmetric spinnakers in Dacron, NPL laminate or 3Di. Cloth weight and construction are matched to how hard you push the boat rather than to the model badge.

Every sail is cut to the specification of your exact X-Yacht and rig rather than a class average, so it sets correctly from the first hoist and the boat stays balanced through the range. Your local loft can check the measurements before the build begins and handle servicing, repairs and recuts later, keeping the inventory working as it was designed to.

X-YACHTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A:

Pricing depends on the model, the sails you need and the construction you choose. A cruising main for an Xc 38 is a different figure from a 3Di inventory for an Xp 44. Tell us your model and how you sail and request a quote for an itemized price.

A:

Yes. An Xc inventory is built around easy handling and durability, an Xp inventory around shape retention and speed, and the X-Range sits between the two. The right answer depends more on how you sail than on the badge, so tell us both when you request a quote.

A:

Yes. The earlier X-Yachts are still actively raced and they are boats we build for regularly. Being out of production is no obstacle, and your local loft can confirm measurements where original records are limited.

A:

Most club racers use an asymmetric spinnaker, with a code zero added for reaching legs where the kite is too deep and the jib too small. We size both to your rig and rating considerations. Compare the options on our flying sails page.

A:

We build to the known specifications of your specific model and rig, so the sail is shaped for your boat from the first hoist. If anything needs confirming, your local loft can take measurements before the sail goes into production.
