Ben Costello, Service Manager
Ben „Beno“ was born and brought up in Napier and sailed dinghy classes, trailer yachts and keelboats there before coming to Auckland to join the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s youth training programme. After completing his sailmaking training he headed overseas to sail with campaigns such as the maxi Nicorette and the 90-footer Bols Sport, before
competing in the 2007–08 Volvo Ocean Race. He has also managed and sailed extensively on TP52s, 40-footers and other grand prix race boats, including doing two Sydney–Hobarts, two Fastnet races and multiple Pacific races.

Ben joined the North Sails team in 2017 as service manager, co-ordinating sail repair and maintenance work from keelboats up to superyachts. He keeps up with racing locally, including sailing aboard Beau Geste when it set a new Coastal Classic record in 2019.
