David is a designer at North Sails as well as being the manager for the European group of designers. His personal projects include IRC, and Grand Prix. He has been involved in projects as diverse as the BAR Gladiator TP52 and Girls on Film Fast 40, the latter of which he races on a regular basis.

David started sailing on his parents’ cruising yacht, which led to sailing Optimists and moving up through the UK youth program. He sailed 420s, and also raced 49ers when they were first launched.

It was during university that David started working part-time as a sailmaker; in 2000 he was recruited as a designer, and he tried out several competitors before joining the North Sails UK team. He’s happy to work for North Sails because the company aligns well with his own philosophies on technology and development.
