After graduating from University as a Mechanical Engineer, Graeme worked at Southern Spars in Cape Town before coming over to the UK to work for Formula Spars and then Selden Masts. He worked here as a mast designer for 12 years before starting in the design office at North Sails Gosport in 2018.

Talking about his background in the industry, Graeme explains: „It made sense with my composites engineering background and understanding of both spars and sailing, that North would be a good application of my skills. I think it does help to have an understanding of all components of the aero package and how they work together.“

Graeme hosts a huge variety of sailing experience and race victories, from running a 49er s Olympic campaign in the run-up to the 2016 Olympics, to winning the Cape to Rio race after 16 days onboard the RP-37 Windsong in 2006.

He holds 20+ national titles in eight classes (505, 49er, Fireball, L26, IRC and various local South African classes (Sprog, Dabchick, Pacer 27)) and currently enjoys sailing the Contender and 505 at his home club, Netley Sailing Club. Graeme got back into the Contender in 2019 and plans to do the 2020 Worlds in Medemblik.
