Avi Swissa was born to a family of sailing racers, (champions!) and sailmakers since 1983, and ever since, he breaths and lives sailing, racing, and salty air.

Avi has dedicated his entire career helping people enjoy their boats. With over a decade of sail consulting, Avi has become one of Israel’s most experienced sail experts, especially in the growing market of cruising and racing boats. He has led scores of sail replacement programs for all type of racing boats. His vast experience with sail cloth and sail handling systems across the widest variety of boats has provided captains and project managers with a clear understanding of the best sail options available that will ensure sail inventories will meet owners’ needs for many years to come.

Avi spent his youth racing amongst many one design classes. Avi was a former Israeli national team member in the 420 & 470 classes and participated in many national races all over the world in smaller one designs and larger keel boats. Avi gives back to the sport by being active in the local racing scene and with any sailor that comes his way that is looking to enhance their sailing experience, whether it be fine-tuning mast and rig set up, putting together an optimum sail inventory, and more.

Avi’s 12 years of business experience with fellow sailmakers around the world gives him a deep understanding of the sailing industry in Europe. Avi serves as North Sails Regional Manager, and continues to help shape and grow the sailing market throughout the Mediterranean.
