Rich answered an employment advertisement for North Sails in 1997 because he wanted to learn how to improve at what was then his hobby, sailing. Since then he has held positions with the One Design division as both sailmaker and sail designer. Rich has also worked as production manager in the Sri Lanka facility. He never stops learning, picking up ways to improve every sail he comes in contact with, through his co-workers around the world or through working with clients.

One of Rich’s favorite sailmaking memories is hearing that one of the sails he built for the Finn and Europe classes had brought home Olympic Gold medals. He is active in the B-14 class and won the class Europeans in 2006 and 2009.
