A life-long sailmaker, Max has been part of the North Sails team since 2012, and currently focuses on the Offshore One Design division, in particular the J/Boats and Melges classes. In addition to helping bring great sail designs to the table, Max is active at events, coaching, participating in post-race debriefs, race clinics and more.

Max’s advice to new sailors? Enjoy the sport and always try to keep the fun factor your priority. You want to work hard and improve, but if you become too serious and the fun goes away , you will most likely become stagnant in your learning curve eventually leaving the sport altogether. If you’re not having fun take a short break or look into another style race boat that can help bring the  excitement and fun back! And always be available to help your competitors– it will always come back to you in a positive way.

When not on the water or working with clients at regattas, Max enjoys short board wind surfing, especially with his sons. Both sons are competitive surfers and Max enjoys watching them compete. They also snowboard together in the winter months.
