CUSTOM PERFORMANCE SAILS FOR SOLARIS BOATS

Solaris Yachts Sails by North Sails

Solaris builds performance cruisers in Italy that are genuinely quick without giving up comfort below deck. Models such as the Solaris 40, 44, 50, 55 and 64 carry powerful rigs, often with square-top mainsails and self-tacking jibs, and they are drawn to reward a well-designed sail plan rather than simply tolerate one. These are boats where the difference between an adequate sail and a good one is obvious on the helm.

North Sails builds Solaris sails to suit how you use the boat. Comfortable cruising favours durable cloth and easy handling, long passages reward shape that lasts, and regatta sailing demands stability under load. We build mainsails, square-top mains, self-tacking jibs, overlapping genoas, code zeros and asymmetric spinnakers in NPL laminate or 3Di to cover all three.

Each sail is engineered to the exact specification of your Solaris, so the shape matches your rig, your hardware and your sailing style from the first hoist rather than approximating a class average. Your local loft confirms the measurements before the build begins and handles servicing afterwards, keeping the inventory working properly for years to come.

SOLARIS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A:

Every Solaris inventory is priced individually, because the cost depends on the sails you need and the construction you choose. A single laminate mainsail sits well below a full 3Di regatta wardrobe. Share your model and sailing goals and request a quote for a firm figure.

A:

Yes. Square-top mains are common across the Solaris range and we design the head shape, batten layout and cloth to suit your rig and backstay arrangement. The aim is a sail that sets cleanly, depowers predictably and is still straightforward to hoist and stow.

A:

It is one of the better choices for exactly that mix. 3Di holds its designed shape for far longer than woven cloth, which matters on the race course, and it stays durable enough for regular cruising use. You can read how the construction works on our 3Di technology page.

A:

A self-tacking jib keeps short-tacking simple, but many owners add an overlapping genoa or a code zero for light air and reaching, where the smaller jib runs out of power. We size each to your rig and recommend a furling setup that is easy to handle. Your local loft can advise on the combination.

A:

We build to the known specifications of your specific model, so the sail is shaped for your rig from the first hoist. If anything needs confirming, your local loft can take or check measurements before production. Just share your model when you request a quote.
