Ocean Race Legend Bouwe Bekking and Master Sailmaker Nathan Quirk Sit Down with Ken Read
In recent years, offshore sailing has seen a dramatic rise in popularity and awareness. This sector of our sport pushes sailors, their boats, and the equipment to the limits.
In this episode, we’re joined by “Volvo Ocean Race Legend” Bouwe Bekking and master sailmaker Nathan Quirk, whose resume includes four around-the-world races and three America’s Cup campaigns.
Our guests’ collective experience includes hundreds of thousands of offshore racing miles; Bekking onboard as a sailor, and Quirk in the sail repair loft. They each bring their unique perspective to the discussion of sail evolution specifically North 3Di, a sail technology that provides unmatched performance and reliability. Bekking also shares a first-hand account of what it feels like to careen off massive waves while sailing in the Southern Ocean.
Hosted by North Sails President and multi-lap Ocean Race veteran himself, Episode 4 is educational, inspiring, and was a lot of fun to record.
