Tradewind Sails

The TradeWind is a dual purpose downwind cruising sail which can be flown wing on wing for running wind angles or as a two-ply reaching sail  for closer wind angles.

The TradeWind sail builds on the longstanding twin headsail concept by providing a lightweight, free flying, furling, sail independent of the fixed forestay and upwind headsail.

When used at running wind angles between 150-180 degrees, the TradeWind sail provides a simple and safe form of downwind sail power. A TradeWind sail utilizes a fixed pole for sheeting and stabilizing the windward sail while the leeward sail is sheeted amidships – providing continuous flow across both sails.

For closer reaching angles, both clews can be sheeted together to leeward, to serve as a reaching sail for true wind angles between 70-140. This provides a second sailing mode creating additional light air power on its own.
