NORTH SAILS OPENS NEW SALES AND SERVICE FACILITY IN MIAMI
Steve Benjamin Brings His Expertise Back to North Sails
North Sails announces the opening of its new Miami sales and service facility headed by Steve Benjamin (“Benj”). The loft location, 2760 NW 22nd Street, is conveniently close to Coconut Grove, the heart of one design racing on Biscayne Bay. The 3,500 sq. foot facility, formerly Bremen Sails, is an expansive, purpose-built sail loft with multiple sewing machines, hand-working tools and excellent canvas equipment.
Tom Bremen, who sold his family business to Benj explains, “Not only is Benj an incredible sailor, but he’s very generous with his expertise, helping customers solve all their racing, cruising, and canvas needs. I’m very proud that he will be continuing the business my father started 60 years ago serving sailors in Miami.”
With all of the sailing that happens in and around Miami, the new North Sails loft is a welcome addition to the area, offering custom sails for both national and international sailors as well as premiere customer service. In addition to custom solutions, Benj will also provide repair and regatta service to the multiple one design classes actively racing on Biscayne Bay. With the new North Sail Miami loft being strategically placed in the heart of Florida sailing, the community will surely benefit from the knowledge and experience Benj brings back to North Sails.
Steve Benjamin returns to North Sails with an extraordinary wealth of experience and talent, sharing: “I am incredibly excited about getting to work with North Sails again, and to be servicing sailors in Miami, my new home.. North Sails has the best technology in the industry and it's great to be part of the team again." Benj began developing his skills at a young age to win the Fireball Worlds twice while attending Yale. He went on to win a silver medal in the 1984 Olympics, the 505 Worlds in 1980, and the Etchells Worlds in 2017; while also being named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year in 2015. Having worked as Sales Manager in the Milford loft for twelve years, he is familiar with the leading edge innovation and technology that defines North Sails.
Benj will work closely with North Sails Experts Bob Meagher and Peter Grimm from North Sails Ft. Lauderdale to service all of North’s clients in Southeast Florida. According to Bob, “We’ve been looking for the right loft and manager to service the local Miami sailors for many years, we are thrilled that Benj is back. Totally worth the wait.”
