CUSTOM PERFORMANCE SAILS FOR JEANNEAU BOATS

Jeanneau Yachts Sails by North Sails

Jeanneau covers a lot of ground. The Sun Odyssey range is built for family cruising, the Sun Fast models are designed for shorthanded racing, and the larger Jeanneau Yachts sit at the comfortable end of the line. Models such as the Sun Odyssey 349, 410, 440 and 490, and the Sun Fast 3300, all ask something different from their sails. The range has grown steadily over the years, so two boats with similar names can carry very different rigs.

North Sails builds each Jeanneau inventory around that difference. Cruising boats get durable mainsails and furling genoas designed to be handled by two people, while Sun Fast owners racing offshore get lighter, faster shapes in NPL laminate or 3Di, along with code zeros and asymmetric spinnakers for reaching and downwind legs.

Whichever model you own, the sails are engineered to the specification of your exact boat and rig rather than a generic template, so they set cleanly, hold their designed shape and keep the helm balanced as the wind builds. Your local loft can check measurements before the build starts and look after servicing later, which matters most on the water where a poorly fitting sail shows on the first tack.

JEANNEAU FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A:

Yes, and they are designed differently. A Sun Odyssey inventory is built around easy handling and durability for cruising, while a Sun Fast inventory is built for shape retention and speed under racing loads. Tell us which model you own and how you sail it when you request a quote.

A:

Yes. Furling genoas are the standard headsail across most of the range and we build them with the luff finish, foam shaping and UV protection to suit your furler. That keeps the sail setting well part-furled as well as fully deployed. See the options on our headsails page.

A:

Shorthanded racing rewards sails that hold their shape and stay manageable for two people. That usually means a laminate or 3Di mainsail and jib, plus a furling reaching sail so you are not wrestling a spinnaker at night. Talk it through with your local loft before committing.

A:

It depends on the balance between cruising and racing. Woven Dacron gives value and durability for coastal sailing, NPL laminates hold their shape longer, and 3Di offers the best shape retention if you push the boat. The sail material guide sets out the differences.

A:

Yes. Older Sun Odyssey and Sun Fast models are among the boats we build for most often, and being out of production is no problem. We work to your exact model and rig, and your local loft can verify measurements where original records are limited.
