SAILS FOR YOUR PEARSON

CUSTOM PERFORMANCE SAILS FOR PEARSON BOATS

Pearson Yachts Sails by North Sails

Pearson Yachts earned its place in sailing history as one of the early names in fiberglass boatbuilding, turning out cruising and racing yachts known for solid construction and easy manners. Models such as the Pearson Triton, Pearson Ensign, Pearson 26, Pearson 30, Pearson 323, and Pearson 424 are still sailed and enjoyed long after they left the factory. The boats have lasted but the original sails, in most cases, have not, and a fresh inventory is the surest way to bring an older Pearson back to its best.

This is where North Sails can help. We build Pearson sails to the exact dimensions of your model, shaping a Pearson mainsail, Pearson headsail, genoa, jib, or Pearson spinnaker around your rig rather than a one-size-fits-all pattern. Cruising sailors, club racers, and weekend day sailors all draw on the same design expertise and proven materials.

Because each sail is made to your boat, it sets cleanly from the first hoist and holds its shape through years of use. With an accurate fit, durable construction, and the services of your local loft, your Pearson sails are easier to trim, quicker to settle, and ready for whatever the season brings.

PEARSON FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A:

There is no set price, because every sail is built to your exact Pearson specification, from the sail type you need to the cloth you choose. A single Pearson mainsail for a Pearson 26 sits at a very different level from a full inventory for a Pearson 424. Whether you want to buy Pearson sails as a one-off replacement or order new Pearson sails for the whole boat, request a Pearson sail quote with your model, sailing style, and goals, and a North Sails expert will come back to you.

A:

Yes. Pearson stopped building boats years ago, but that has no effect on our ability to make sails for one. We hold or can reconstruct the rig dimensions for most models, and where a boat has been modified over the years your local loft can confirm the details before anything is cut. An out-of-production hull is one of the most common things we build for, so your Pearson is in good company.

A:

Often, yes. Between our own records and the known specifications for boats like the Triton, Ensign, and 30, we can usually start from accurate numbers. If your boat has a non-standard rig or there is any doubt, your local loft can measure it in person so the sail is shaped for the boat you actually own, not a sister boat. Find your nearest loft to arrange a check.

A:

Noticeably. Tired, stretched sails lose their shape, which makes a boat heel more, point lower, and feel harder to handle. A fresh, correctly shaped main and headsail restore drive and balance, so an older Pearson often feels livelier and easier to sail than its owner remembers. It is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to a classic boat.

A:

It depends on how you use the boat. For relaxed coastal cruising, woven Dacron is hard to beat for durability and value. If you want your sails to hold their shape for longer, a laminate such as NPL TOUR or 3Di OCEAN lifts performance while staying easy to handle. Most Pearson owners cruise, so we usually narrow it to two sensible choices. Our sail material guide explains the trade-offs, or ask your local loft when you request a quote.
